It was great
to see such a fantastic turn out today with something over 200 runners taking
part. The overwhelming feedback was positive with everybody having enjoyed
running through the park. Orienteers familiar with the area
found that the base at Calke Explore gave them a whole perspective
on the park. My thanks go to all who took the time and effort to turn up and
run, to the wonderful team of helpers from the individual teams to the drafted
‘volunteer’ road Marshalls and Gate keepers whose willingness and
good cheer made my life at the Organiser much easier. Special thanks go to
those more experienced than me who I was able to turn to for help and support. Finally to Doug who was controller/planner and did a superb
job all (of a very long) day, a pleasure to work with. Thank you.

We
hope that you enjoyed your visit to Calke Explore certainly the car park,
toilets and catering supported the idea of starting the event from somewhere
new. It was great to see the 'DVO Teams Machine’ click into action the
usual efficient and lack of fuss way. Thanks to all the leaders and their
supporters for such a super effort.
At
16:00 the parking field was clear, the controls had
been collected and the boxes de-grippled and safely put away.
